Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (2017)
Pop songs arranged for Baroque orchestra
In 2017, I was asked to curate a special edition of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s ‘Night Shift’ series for performance in the gardens at Kensington Palace. The performance featured arias by George Frederick Handel alongside songs by Björk, Radiohead, Beyonce, and The Knife, which I arranged for the orchestra.
The programme hoped to make connections across the centuries, shedding new light both on the work of the contemporary artists explored, and Handel’s music. You can watch interviews in which I explore some of those connections, below.
