The Augmented Harpsichord (2024)
Research Residency at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
In 2024, I was appointed as Research Resident at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Working across the historically-informed performance, composition, and electronic music departments, my research project explores the creative possibilities afforded by technologically ‘augmenting’ a virginal. Using Arduino circuits, sensors, Spectral audio-processing, and other technologies, the sound and performance practice of the virginal will be transformed. The project involves working closely with postgraduate harpsichordists and will result in a number of outputs, including a public performance of a new work for ‘augmented harpsichord’ in December 2024.
