Glass Coloured (2023)

New concert work for 3D-printed Renaissance cornett and Ableton Live 11

In 2023, I worked with the Renaissance cornett player Jamie Savan to create a new concert work for 3D-printed cornett and Ableton Live 11, Glass Coloured.

Exploring the cornett’s unique microtonal possibilities, with a focus on spectral harmonies, Just Intonation, and the cornett’s basis in the historical Meantone temperament, live electronic processing transforms and augments the sound of the cornett. All sounds are produced live with Ableton Live 11’s new spectral devices and physical modelling resonator used to create a rich, resonant duet between the historical instrument and the laptop.
